*** WATCH *** The driver receives a criminal citation after letting his car crash into a railroad track… | Hyannis News

HYANNIS – As you will see in the following HN video, Barnstable Police were investigating a vehicle that crashed and got stuck in the railroad tracks at the intersection of Route 28 and Yarmouth Road early this morning. The driver of the vehicle did not remain at the scene. Officers began to search the area, looking for the driver. After about 15 minutes, police received a silent 911 call from about a block from the accident. The number that dialed 911 was recorded in the name of a person with the same last name as the person registered for the wrecked vehicle left on the tracks. Officers conducted a brief search of the area and eventually encountered a man who was allegedly hiding in the woods. Officers believed the man was the driver, detaining him as they continued to investigate. Meanwhile, a tow truck had to go around a bit in order to free the vehicle from the stalemate.

The driver was issued a fine for leaving the premises before being handed over to a couple who had come to pick him up …

* All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
